About The Artist

Jo Allsopp was born in Chirk, North Wales in 1970. Having had a keen interest in art most of her life, she decided to pursue this as a career. Although Jo is mainly self taught, she did complete a diploma course in Children's Book Illustration with London Art College where she achieved a Distinction.

Jo is now a successfully published illustrator; she recently illustrated 'My Nana is an Alien' by Diane Whitley, with the backing of PHA-UK. The book has been highly publicised on national radio and in the media. 'My Nana is an Alien' is now available for purchase at www.pha-uk.com, www.amazon.co.uk and www.dianewhitley.com.

Working as a professional International Artist and Tutor, Jo teaches drawing and painting in Adult Education for Leicestershire County Council. She also teaches on a private basis from her own fully equipped studio in Leicestershire and regularly undertakes commissions for children’s bedroom murals, business logos, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, contemporary art, etc. Jo was a professional singer for 15 years, and still does the occasional gig around the country. With a keen interest in martial arts, she recently ranked 3rd in the Tae kwon-do International 8th Open World Championships fighting in the ladies lightweight black belt sparring category which was held at the NIA in Birmingham.
