ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jo Allsopp was born in Chirk, North Wales in 1970. Having had a keen interest in art most of her life, she decided to pursue this as a career. Although Jo is mainly self taught, she did complete a diploma course in Children's book illustration with London Art College where she achieved a distinction. She is also now trained as an adult tutor.

Jo is now a successfully published illustrator; she recently illustrated the book 'My Nana is an Alien' by Diane Whitley, with the backing of PHA-UK. View Jo's biography and gallery at www.saa.co.uk

Working as a professional international artist and tutor, Jo occasionally teaches drawing and painting in Adult Education for Leicestershire County Council. Since opening her own gallery at Moira Furnace in Derbyshire, she is teaching regular classes, which have proved extremely popular. She still regularly undertakes private commissions including; children's bedroom murals, portraits, landscapes, flowers, seascapes, individual mosaic art pieces, slate door signs etc.

With a keen interest in martial arts, she recently ranked 3rd in the Tae kwon-do International 8th open World Championships fighting in the ladies lightweight black belt sparring category which was held at the NIA in Birmingham.
